State Fines Health Net $30,000: State Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi announced that Health Net has been fined $30,000 for misrepresentation and other violations in the mishandling of a $192 claim. It took more than 130 days for Health Net to pay the San Diego man’s claim, Garamendi said. During that period, he said, Health Net repeatedly told the policyholder that his bills had been paid. Also, the company tried to settle the claim for less than a reasonable amount, Garamendi said.
