St. Ives’ 4th-Quarter Profit Drops by 31% to $460,000

St. Ives Laboratories Inc., a Chatsworth-based hair-care products company, reported an increase in net income for all of 1991, despite a 31% profit decline in its fourth quarter.
In the three months that ended Dec. 31, St. Ives earned $460,000, contrasted with a $667,000 profit a year earlier. Its sales increased 11% to $31.8 million from $28.6 million in the fourth quarter of 1990.
St. Ives’ 1991 profit was $3.51 million, up 12% from $3.14 million in the previous year. Its sales totaled $120 million, a 12% gain from 1990’s $107.1 million in sales.
