Seattle 106, Minnesota 91--Eddie Johnson had his second big game in a row, scoring 26 points and sparking a 12-0 run by the SuperSonics in the third quarter at Minneapolis.

Johnson scored 29 points in a 113-104 victory over Portland on Saturday.

Ricky Pierce’s three-point play broke a 58-58 tie midway through the quarter, and Johnson followed with seven of the SuperSonics’ next nine points. Minnesota made only six of 20 shots in the quarter.

Rookie Luc Longley scored a personal-best 19 for Minnesota.

After a slow 2-6 start under new Coach George Karl, hired Jan. 23, the SuperSonics’ only defeat in their last nine games was a 140-122 loss at Golden State. At 30-25, the team is five games over .500 for the first time this season.

Portland 110, Utah 107--Clyde Drexler scored 24 points, including a crucial rebound of his own miss with 35 seconds to play, as the Trail Blazers won at Portland to end the Jazz’s six-game winning streak.

Karl Malone scored 30 points for the Jazz, which plays the Clippers at the Sports Arena tonight.

Phoenix 104, New York 95--Tom Chambers scored 29 points, Kevin Johnson had 25 and Jeff Hornacek 22 to offset Patrick Ewing’s 37 points and 10 rebounds at Phoenix.
