South Africa can return to international track and field, an International Amateur Athletics Federation official said.
The IAAF is expected to give South Africa temporary membership at a March 7 meeting, Lamine Diack, a vice president of the organization, said.
South Africa has been barred from the Olympics since 1960 because of its apartheid policies.
