SIMI VALLEY : Slide to Be Cleared From Box Canyon
Box Canyon Road in eastern Ventura County will be closed to non-resident commuters for the next two weeks so that repair crews can clear dirt and rocks that fell on the roadway during recent storms, officials said.
The roadway, which runs north and south along the Santa Susana Hills near Simi Valley, has been partly blocked since last week when a mudslide covered portions of the northbound lane, said Al Knuth, deputy director of the county’s Public Works Department.
He said a private contractor has been hired to help clear the roadway.
The road extends from Santa Susana Pass Road in Ventura County to Lake Manor Drive in Los Angeles County.
