Gulf Allies Forced to Use Soviet Satellite

LONDON —
Gulf War allies were forced to lease space on a Soviet spacecraft because communications circuits on U.S. satellites were saturated, a magazine reported Friday.
The report in Jane’s Military Communications said the allied military leased transponders, which receive communications and retransmit them on a different frequency, on the Soviet Gorizont satellite system.
