SECOND CHANCE: Although both of Orange County’s Division I men’s teams have had disappointing seasons, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine could redeem themselves at the Big West Conference tournament March 13-15 at the Long Beach Arena. . . . With seven-time winner Nevada Las Vegas barred while on NCAA probation, this year’s tournament might be the most wide open in years. . . . Fullerton won in 1978 and has been runner-up twice. Irvine’s best finish came in 1988, when the Anteaters were second.
