PROVO, Utah — Guard Nathan Call scored nine of his 18 points during a 25-7 run to lead Brigham Young to a 100-68 victory over Cal State Northridge Tuesday night.
Call, a Capistrano Valley High graduate, led four BYU players in double figures as the Cougars of the Western Athletic Conference shot 59%, including 65 percent in the second half. Russell Larson and Robert Jones scored 15 points each. Kurt Christensen added 10.
Northridge, an independent, finished its season with an 11-17 record. Keith Gibbs led the Matadors with 14 points. Boykin added 12 and Percy Fisher had 10.
BYU (21-6) took control with the 25-7 run led by Call and was never seriously threatened. David Keeter and Shelton Boykin led a 13-5 Northridge run that enabled the Matadors to close to within 30-20 with 8:02 left in the first half. But that was as close as they got, as they shot 41 percent for the game.
