The five-man international jury for the regatta in May ruled that the front-running New Zealand boat, which has a 13-1 record, has been using its bowsprit illegally in the first two rounds of the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger trials.
The ruling conflicts with an earlier decision that approved the appendage.
The Kiwis said they would seek “clarification” of the ruling.
