WORLD IN BRIEF : JAPAN : Four Charged in Trucking Scandal

Japanese prosecutors charged four company executives with arranging illegal loans guaranteed by a mob-tainted trucking company that reportedly also channeled large amounts of money to politicians. The four executives were charged with breach of trust for having Sagawa Kyubin guarantee $447 million in loans to companies they knew would be unable to make repayments.
