Mexican Economy Grows at 3.6% Rate in 1991: The figure fell short of the government’s forecast of 4% growth, the Finance Ministry said in a statement. The Finance Ministry said the preliminary results were explained partly by the change in the base year 1990 that resulted in 4.4% growth that year. It did not elaborate. The original estimate of 1990 growth was 3.9%. Including 1991 data, the Mexican economy has grown by an average 3.8% in the last three years, the statement said. Growth last year was driven by strength in investment and exports, the Finance Ministry said. It said the expansion in 1991 reflected growth in all sectors of the economy.
