Violence and Gun Control

Share

Why don’t you focus on success stories, such as other advanced countries where guns are controlled and there are fewer random killings with handguns? In Canada you need a valid reason for having a handgun (a shop owner could have one) and you need a permit. The same goes for Great Britain. The result: 1/100th as many killings as in the U.S. (allowing for the population difference). And those are not police states--they’re democracies too.

The Second Amendment does not guarantee everyone a gun--it refers to having a well-regulated militia. Let the law-abiding gun owners belong to the National Guard, but get guns out of the hands of punks, kids, psychopaths and drug dealers. Obviously our frontier-type guns-for-everybody policy is getting too many people killed. Let’s change it.
