AMERICA’S CUP UPDATE : NOTEBOOK : Jury Dismisses Swedish Protest
SAN DIEGO —
The jury for the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger trials in the America’s Cup dismissed a protest by Sweden’s Tre Kronor, which lost to Espana ’92 Saturday after getting its keel fouled in Spain’s discarded spinnaker.
The Swedes trailed by only 12 seconds before the incident but lost by 4:33 after being stopped dead in the water before they could clear the sail.
Syndicate head Tomas Wallin said Sunday he planned to pursue his protest.
