School Choice Initiative

Share

I cried for my beloved country when I read the article about the choice initiative. After all, the public school system and the constitutional separation of church and state have made America great. This initiative would allow taxpayers to support schools with the philosophy of a David Duke, Jim Bakker or Jimmy Swaggart.

As a public classroom teacher for 32 years, I do agree with the necessity of parental involvement. In public schools, parents have the opportunity to participate at every level of the process.

The article misleads the public by grossly exaggerating the facts. We have a thousand teachers in our public school district and 99% of those teachers send their children to the public schools.

Passing this initiative would give us a two-tiered system--one for the rich and one for the poor.
