Not Everyone Happy With New Nickname

Regarding Mike Downey’s column of March 4 about Indian mascots, in which he stated, “Stanford University doesn’t seem to have lost any alumni support over its athletes no longer calling themselves Indians.” He should have been at our Class of ’41 50th reunion last September. We had about 500 at our banquet, all of whom proudly wore badges proclaiming, “Once an Indian, Always an Indian.”
