Kudos to Harry Shearer for capturing the essence of free-market enterprise (“Free-Market Champs?” Feb. 9), which has come to represent debauchery, defilement of the human spirit and disgust in the eyes of many who have witnessed firsthand its costs: rising unemployment, a growing homeless population and inadequate health care.

Perhaps the article would be more aptly titled “Free-Market Chumps.”
