AST No Fan of IBM: What does Thomas Yuen, co-chairman of computer maker AST Research Inc. in Irvine, think about International Business Machines Corp.’s rumored plan to begin selling “computer clones” in Europe?
IBM said last week that it wants to sell clones to fill out its product offerings in Europe. The computer giant did not say whether it would try selling computer clones in the United States.
“I think their success will be limited,” Yuen said. “I think it’s recognition that they are not a low-cost computer maker.”
