Prison Escapees Release Hostage and Surrender

NEW LEBANON, N.Y. —
Two men who escaped from a Connecticut prison surrendered Monday after holding a man hostage in his house nearly eight hours, authorities said.
John Moore and Christopher Shapard, both 18, surrendered about 15 minutes after releasing their hostage in exchange for cigarettes, state police said. The pair had escaped Saturday.
