Dinner Raises $97,000 for Shelter Partnership

Shelter Partnership’s third annual dinner March 3 at the Biltmore raised more than $97,000 with the help of the hotel, which underwrites the event. Chairs were Chris Albrecht, West Coast senior vice president of original programming for Home Box Office, and Bob Zmuda, president of Comic Relief. Shelter Partnership, a nonprofit organization, works to create long-term solutions to the problem of homelessness.

St. Anne’s Maternity Home has received $1.5 million from the Fritz B. Burns Foundation. A new residential center for pregnant teen-agers, scheduled to open in June, will be named the Gladys and Fritz B. Burns Residential Center in honor of the couple’s four decades of generosity to the charity.

Pediatric & Family Medical Center has recently received more than $117,000 from the expanded Access for Primary Care program. The money will be used for ongoing medical and dental care for adults and children in central Los Angeles.

People Assisting the Homeless has announced a $25,000 grant from the Ahmanson Foundation for general support of a day center, emergency shelter and transitional residence programs. PATH has also received $10,000 from the Weingart Foundation for its day center.

Latin Business Assn. raised $500,000 at its 16th anniversary banquet Feb. 14 at the Century Plaza. Proceeds will support the organization’s business opportunity, educational and advocacy programs.
