Michael Feighan, 87, the Democrat who represented Cleveland in Congress for 28 years. Feighan entered Congress in 1943 and rose to chairman of the House Judiciary’s subcommittee on immigration and naturalization before being defeated for renomination in 1970. An outspoken opponent of Yugoslav ruler Marshal Tito, Feighan once made a one word amendment that imposed a policy of inspection and verification of foreign aid sent to that country. Feighan served in the Ohio Legislature for six years before being elected to Congress. On Thursday in Washington of cancer.
