Micro Technology Inc., a maker of computer storage equipment and software for managing computer networks, plans to hire about 115 employees during 1992, the company’s president said last week.

Steve Hamerslag said the Anaheim company currently employs 535 people and needs to expand the work force to keep up with the growth of its businesses, particularly in the company’s Lexcel division based in Fullerton.

Lexcel recently began shipping Lance 3.0, its latest version of its network management software, which enables corporate computer managers to monitor usage of computer networks and determine when the system is reaching capacity. Since its launch in July, 1990, Lance sales have grown to about 10% of Micro Technology’s total sales, which are expected to reach $110 million for the year ended March 31.

Besides the 115 new hires expected, Micro Technology gained 35 employees in Sunnyvale earlier this month with its $18-million acquisition of SF2 Corp., which makes equipment for so-called fault-tolerant computers, which have multiple backup systems in case of failure.
