LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

This daily edition of The Times has just marked its second anniversary and now moves into its third year as Ventura County’s only countywide newspaper.

In that time, we have tried to do for our readers what no other media outlet has been willing or able to do: go beyond simple city boundaries to tell you about this larger community known as Ventura County.

In Sunday’s edition, you will see a good example of that kind of effort. We have a special package of stories on the East County and its changing relationship to the rest of Ventura County. No matter what side of the Conejo Grade you live on, I think you will find interesting news in that report.

On a daily basis, we will continue to cover the communities that make this a special place to live. From Simi Valley to Ventura, from Fillmore to Oxnard, our reporters are covering local issues every day. In fact, in coming weeks, we will begin publishing new charts on the Roundup pages that will give you a quick but detailed look at how elected officials have voted on key issues coming before local city councils and school boards.
