WORLD IN BRIEF : ISRAEL : $243-Million IMF Loan Approved

The International Monetary Fund said in Washington that it will loan Israel $243 million to help compensate the country for revenues lost during last year’s Gulf War. Israel suffered a decline in exports of manufactured goods and a loss of tourism revenue because of the economic uncertainties during the Middle East crisis, the IMF said.
