Faulty Ignition Cited in Chinese Rocket Failure

BEIJING —
China said Sunday that a faulty ignition circuit probably caused its rocket to stay on the launch pad instead of blasting into space with an Australian satellite.
The March 22 failure was a blow to China’s fledgling commercial launch industry, which had only one previous customer, Asiasat. The incident was also embarrassing to the Chinese because the failed launch was broadcast live on nationwide television.
