“White Men Can’t Jump,” an urban comedy starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, leaped to the top of the box-office chart in a single bound, skipping over last week’s No. 1 film, “Basic Instinct,” in its first weekend in theaters. “Ladybugs,” a new comedy with Rodney Dangerfield playing the coach of a girl’s soccer team, entered the field in fifth place.

* “Ruby,” moviedom’s latest take on people involved in the events surrounding John F. Kennedy’s assassination, hit the list in the 17th spot.
