CORONADO : Boy Hurt by Flare Pistol He Found
A 9-year-old Coronado boy accidentally shot himself in the head with a flare pistol he found on the beach in the Silver Strand area, Coronado police said Monday.
Steven Reyes was injured slightly after 5 p.m. He was listed in good condition with a cut on the forehead at Children’s Hospital in San Diego, hospital spokeswoman Sharon Ross said. He was expected to be released today, Ross said.
The boy found the gun partly buried in the sand near the Silver Strand’s Navy housing area, Police Sgt. Jeffrey Hutchins said.
