COUNTYWIDE : Board Backs Plan to Control Runoff

Share

Ventura County officials acted Tuesday to approve a federal plan that would limit the amount of pollution that flows into Mugu Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean from the Calleguas Creek watershed.

The County Board of Supervisors voted 5 to 0 for the plan, which would ultimately force the county to control the quality of drainage water.

Under the plan, based on the federal Clean Water Act of 1987, cities such as Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks and areas of the county that drain into the Calleguas Creek watershed would be required to obtain drainage permits for letting rain runoff spill into the ocean.
