Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Noriega Attorney Denounces Accusers

The defense attorney for Manuel A. Noriega scorned the principal witnesses against the former Panamanian dictator as “scum . . . disgusting . . . sick.” Lawyer Frank A. Rubino told jurors at Noriega’s federal racketeering and cocaine-smuggling trial in Miami that the chief prosecution witnesses, mostly convicted felons seeking to reduce their own sentences, “belong in cages.” After final remarks by Rubino and the prosecution, the case will go to the jury.
