Mikhail S. Gorbachev will meet with former President Ronald Reagan during a visit to the United States in May that will include stops at Reagan’s ranch in Santa Barbara and his presidential library in Simi Valley.

Gorbachev and his wife, Raisa, will visit Los Angeles, the first stop on their tour, in early May, Reagan officials said.

On May 3, the Gorbachevs will be the guests of Reagan and his wife, Nancy, at their ranch.

“I have long hoped to show Mikhail the true American West,” Reagan said in a prepared statement. “He has heard of me speak of its beauty for many years. I look forward to taking him to the ranch.”

On May 4, the last leader of the former Soviet Union will visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, where he and Reagan will deliver speeches on the end of the Cold War era.

The Reagans will then lead the Gorbachevs on a tour of the library, followed by a private luncheon, officials said.
