RAGS TO RICHES: County supervisors this week were amused by one title on their agenda: “Approval of Wiping Rag Fee.” The staff was proposing that the cash-strapped county begin charging the half a dozen local firms that rent rags to industrial shops a $140 permit fee. But the rag renters didn’t find it so funny, and the supervisors finally skipped the idea. . . . Health Care Agency Director Tom Uram says sheepishly about the agenda item: “The name is so terrible. If it ever comes up again, it won’t come back with that name.”
