From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Manuel A. Noriega’s attorney, blasting paid government witnesses, completed his summation in a Miami courtroom by calling the ousted Panamanian leader’s drug indictment “morally wrong.” Jurors were expected to begin deliberations today. Attorney Frank A. Rubino criticized the government’s indirect testimony connecting his client to Colombian drug lords. He called the prosecution’s case “a leap of faith . . . based on what someone said that someone said that someone said about Gen. Noriega.” If convicted of all 10 drug and racketeering counts, Noriega could receive 160 years in prison.
