MOLE HILL

In his review of David Wise’s “Molehunt: The Secret Search for Traitors That Shattered the CIA” (March 15), Tom Mangold writes that James Jesus Angleton failed to find a KGB mole within the CIA “mainly because there was none.”

While I know nothing about the intelligence profession, I must presume to ask how anyone can conclude definitively that there was no mole. Is it not, after all, one of the critical assignments of a mole not to be found?
