World IN BRIEF : PANAMA : Indians Kidnap Ranchers Over Land

A band of Kuna Indians in Panama kidnaped a group of ranchers and burned their homes to protest what they say is the illegal settlement of Indian land, La Prensa reported. The number of hostages was unknown. Interior Ministry officials were scheduled to visit Alto Bayano, east of Panama City, to negotiate with the kidnapers.
