Nation IN BRIEF : NORTH CAROLINA : United Way Forced to Borrow Money

United Way of America began borrowing money last week because local chapters have cut off dues since reports of financial irregularities, the interim president said in Research Triangle Park, N.C. Kenneth W. Dam told United Way leaders from Wake, Durham and Orange counties he did not know how much has been borrowed. Dam is trying to get local organizations to resume paying dues.
