Thanks for Caring for the Homeboys

Re “May He Watch Over You and All the Homeboys” (March 26): Thank God for brave men like Paul Stroup, who is not afraid to mingle with gangs in order to show them real caring. The young people do not have hope. They feel that their only future is in being one of the homeboys.

Stroup has shown them that there is something else besides rivalry and shooting. He has brought them hope, showing that it is possible to rise out of the streets, to get educated and be a reputable member of society. We could use hundreds of Paul Stroups.
