LOS ANGELES : Hotel’s Last 2 Tenants Lose Fight to Stay On

The final two tenants at the Clark Hotel have lost their fight to remain at the downtown Los Angeles facility.

In separate Municipal Court actions over the last week, May Wah International Enterprise prevailed in eviction proceedings against John Duffy, 61, and Clarke Cothran, 67.

“Well, I’m disappointed,” said Duffy, a resident of the hotel for 16 years.

Duffy, Cothran and a third resident, who lost an eviction fight last month, were the final tenants of the once-bustling, 550-room hotel that May Wah plans to close and renovate. The three were the last of several tenants who fought the closing for nearly four years.

“This is welcome news,” said Curtis Westfall, attorney for the hotel owners.
