Adhesive Fabric Can Fix Cracked Driveways

Share

Tired of looking at ugly cracks in your driveway? How about a bandage for them? Driveway Medic is a do-it-yourself repair system for asphalt driveways. The self-adhesive six-inch-wide fabric comes in a nine-foot roll and is easy to apply.

To make a repair, just cut a piece of the material--a non-woven polypropylene fabric saturated with rubberized asphalt--to cover the size of the cracked area, peel off the adhesive and press over the crack. The fabric adheres instantly and can be walked on or driven over immediately, according to the manufacturers, Phillips Fibers Corp., a division of Phillips Petroleum Co., and Co-Fair Corp.

The material forms a waterproof barrier that keeps moisture out and prevents damage from heat or cold. Manufacturers say the bandage can last for years. You can apply a sealing coat to the entire driveway after patching to give it a finished appearance.

New Baby Wipe Helps Prevent Diaper Rash

Attention new moms: Scott Paper Co. has just introduced Baby Fresh with Ultra Guard, a baby wipe that not only cleans but helps prevent diaper rash.

The new wipe contains a skin protectant that helps keep wetness and irritants from the baby’s skin. The solution is alcohol-free, hypoallergenic and contains dimethicone, an ingredient found in baby creams, lotions and skin protectants. Scott says its process involves millions of microscopic sponges that hold the Ultra Guard in the cloth until it is released when the wipe is used.
