A woman has received probation for shooting her fiance in the chest with a .38-caliber revolver after he abruptly canceled their wedding about a week before the ceremony.

Superior Court Judge Robert F. McWeeny on Tuesday said it was unlikely that Carrie Mote would act violently again. A charge of attempted murder will be erased if she stays out of trouble for two years. Cloyd Lee, the intended bridegroom, has recovered.
