CAMARILLO : Water Restrictions May Be Removed

Share

Camrosa Water District customers may soon be able to use as much water as they did in 1989 without paying a penalty.

Bills that customers receive next month might reflect the lack of water conservation penalties, which are expected to be lifted at the next board meeting, board President Jeffrey C. Brown said.

The board had already lowered the district’s water conservation requirements. Last week the mandatory reduction for homeowners was reduced from 20% of the water used in 1989 to 10%, and from 50% to 30% for agricultural customers. The board’s actions mirror recent changes in water conservation restrictions made by the Metropolitan Water District, which supplies water to Camrosa.

“We responded in kind,” Brown said.

But Brown said he hopes that customers do not start wasting water as a result. “We are encouraging voluntary water conservation,” he said.
