In response to “College Newspaper Column on Minority Birthrate Stirs Furor,” April 11:

It’s a shame that a person cannot express a thought without reprimand.

Just substitute the word minority with poor and it’s easy to see the author’s point. By having fewer children each child can have more attention from the parents and, of course, more material goods.

What’s wrong with suggesting a better chance for slightly fewer children? That’s generally what affluent people do.
