Building Materials Being Made From Used Plastic: California Recycling Co. of East Los Angeles has begun making construction materials from recycled plastic bags, beverage containers, milk jugs and coffee cups. The structural pieces are designed to replace wood, steel or concrete in various uses, including fencing, flooring, pallets or planking. The firm estimates that it can produce material equivalent to 750 30-year-old trees a day.
