The Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles has been receiving partial lists of victims reported by the main hospitals of Guadalajara in the wake of Wednesday’s explosions. Those wishing information on victims should call one of these numbers (all area codes 213): 351-6810, ext. 13; 351-6828; 351-6823, ext. 27; 351-6820; 351-6840, ext. 42; 351-6815; 351-6837, ext. 38.

Meanwhile, Mexican telephone officials have set up a special number--3-679-8000--that functions like a phone mailbox. Messages left there by concerned relatives are being forwarded to hospitals and emergency shelters in Guadalajara.

The Mexican Consulate has also joined with the Federacion de clubes Jaliscienses, a coalition of 10 local clubs made up of Jalisco-born residents, in spearheading an effort to send food, clothing, medical supplies and other items to Guadalajara. Goods and monetary donations may be dropped off today and Sunday at Parking Lot “A” in the southwest corner of the California State University, Los Angeles, campus, near Eastern Avenue at State University Drive. In addition, the Federacion de clubes Jaliscienses will accept donations at 4221 Tweedy Blvd. in Southgate. For directions, call 213-249-8833 or 213-249-9736.

The consulate also suggests that those wishing to make donations send checks through the following fund: Fund for the Guadalajara Survivors, California Commerce Bank, P.O. Box 30886, Los Angeles, Calif. 90030.

Checks can also be sent to Los Angeles Archdiocese--Guadalajara Aid, 1531 West Ninth St., Los Angeles, Calif. 90015.

The American Red Cross is also taking cash donations. The contributions may be made to any Red Cross chapter or mailed to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37243, Washington D.C. 20013.
