AA Is a ‘Great Gift in This Crazy World’

Share

As a recovering member of Alcoholics Anonymous, I would like to clear up one point that may confuse readers of the article discussing Trimpey’s Rational Recovery Systems.

Director Al Wright of the L. A. County Office of Alcohol Programs is not referring to Alcoholics Anonymous when he speaks of funded programs.

Alcoholics Anonymous does not accept any contributions from outside sources. This fact was emphasized to me when I sent a check to our central office to commemorate my sobriety. A phone call came from that office asking if I were an alcoholic and the reason for the check before it could be accepted.

AA has no opinion on outside issues, nor does it claim to be the only way to sobriety. It is the last resort in many cases for people to whom rational and alcoholism are a tragic contradiction in terms.
