From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Doctors said a 6-year-old boy had improved since his left arm and right hand were reattached. Michael Conoboy’s limbs were severed in a weekend accident in a field near his home in Wisconsin. He underwent nine hours of surgery at St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Center in St. Paul, Minn. “He’s in critical condition at this point. His condition has improved steadily . . . .” Dr. Paul Donahue said. The boy and his 14-year-old stepbrother, Matthew Neisler, were riding on irrigation equipment when their clothes became entangled in it. Matthew suffered only bruises.
