American Labor Unions

Share

A law to prevent companies from hiring permanent replacements for workers on strike? Pay unskilled laborers the same as skilled labors? Why should someone with a college education make more money? Is this guy for real?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not at all happy with the way American management works either, but in this case Caterpillar won. They played the game and they won. Now Molyneux wants to call foul--because his side lost. Sorry, that doesn’t make Caterpillar the Dark Side of the Force!

American management techniques are changing. The emphasis now is far greater on motivating employees than being demanding. The problem is that these changes are coming much too slowly. On the other hand, most unions don’t seem willing to change at all. Or at least their leaders don’t.

Does anyone realize that both of these factions, management and labor, claim the other is making too much money and they are both right? Who do you suppose is paying for all this? The American consumer, that’s who!

We have had enough! If they want us to “buy American,” both sides need to learn to compromise and work together for common goals. If they don’t, then American companies will continue to fail and unions will continue to lose jobs and members.
