Hoping for Green Future

I wish to express my opinion on the Sammis development activity in Camarillo.

First, I believe the residents spoke and the community leaders listened last year when the mega-mall was scrapped. I think that message was clear. Leave the area alone or leave it green.

So what happened next? An architect was hired and 19 citizens were selected to determine, by consensus, what its destiny should be. An architect is hired for one reason: to replace the green with something else--buildings, pavement, etc.

I hope that the mayor’s 42-member vision committee will provide the guidance the community has requested for its future growth. Let’s all give them a chance to set a direction we can all support. After all, they may recommend we leave this beautiful place alone.
