P.R. Spending by L.A. Schools

As six of the seven citywide officers in United Teachers-Los Angeles (UTLA), we felt a response to the April 13 article was necessary.

The P.R. firm’s spin doctors planned a personal attack on our colleague, UTLA President Helen Bernstein, at the request of the bureaucrats. The vile nature of the plan is a despicable move to discredit Bernstein and, since she represents all other LAUSD teachers and support services personnel, it served as an insult to each and every one of us as well as our union.

This campaign was created to make the LAUSD bureaucrats look better in the public eye. We’ve said it time and time again; put the classroom first in spending, for our children’s sake.
