Tycoon to Be Investigated: A bankruptcy court trustee is expected to launch a worldwide investigation into the business dealings of Alan Bond, the bankrupt financier who controlled one of Australia’s largest corporate empires in the 1980s. Bond, best known for financing Australia’s surprising triumph in the 1983 America’s Cup yacht race, last week filed financial disclosure statements with an Australian court listing his remaining assets. At its peak, Bond Corp Holdings Ltd. owned an Australian nickel mining operation and interests in breweries and the media, plus telecommunications holdings in Chile and mining interests in the United States.
