COSTA MESA : College to Introduce Phone Registrations

Share

Long registration lines may be a thing of the past at Orange Coast College, thanks to a new telephone-registration system being implemented for the fall.

Beginning July 6, all returning students can phone in their class requests at a designated time. Each student will be given a priority telephone time determined by the number of units he or she has earned at the college.

Officials hope that the phone system will make registration run more smoothly. “We anticipate that this will speed up our registration process dramatically,” said Susan Brown, administrative dean of admissions and records. In the past, most signed up by mail or appointment, while only a few continuing education students registered by telephone.

Under the telephone plan, students who have completed 60 to 70 units will have the highest priority, and those with more than 70 or fewer than 60 will have a lower priority. New students will still have to register in person.
