NOT SO INCUMBENT: It used to be a real vote-getter if the word incumbent appeared next to a candidate’s name on the ballot. But Dana Point voters next month won’t know by checking the ballot that this isn’t the first time around for a couple of the five candidates for the two open council seats. . . . Judy Curreri will list herself as public health nurse; Bill Bamattre will have “fire chief” next to his name. They may fear an anti-incumbent fervor, but Bamattre says: “I want people to see me as a neighbor. The word incumbent gives no indication who you are.”
